"Strange Wings" wrote:Yes, the canadian-french dub had Astro's parents named as 'Suzanne' and 'Gédéon' (thanks to Astro Forever who taught me how to write the latter name several years ago :lol :) . Instead of just being called 'mum' and 'dad', they're gaining a lot more of personality when they have some real names.
'Arthur'? :) That's cute! Is that how he's being called in the canadian-english version?

Yeah! In the Canadian version of "The Girl from Alsoar", there was a scene with Astro's parents talking about the water-stealing aliens, and Astro's mom calls Astro's dad as Arthur. The two are a lot better to refer to with real names...

On the side, I found a few things... the maker and seller of this item is probably seven years old. A hundred dollars?!

Astro refused to believe that he had gained weight.
I used to go to a daycare that had dozens of plastic dolls like this, most of them with the same plastic discolouration problem. I always found it a little horrifying and a little annoying.

This was made of glazed wood over 50 years ago, and aging has made him look like the Kenya version of Astro Boy. (Or, Afro Boy before he got his hair done.)

This reminds me of a cover to a MAD magazine, on which 3 boys are standing in the showers of the local pool. 2 of them have the correct coloring: white bottoms and tanned or burned everywhere else. But Alfred E. Neuman's coloring is reversed:

I just know I saw this recently somewhere, I doubt if I would have remembered it from 1978!
:D

In the first item Astro looks like a girl o.O.

As for the second, it's cool that it's really that old!Despite the discoloration.

Not necessarily weird, but look what I just got in the mail! It's a Quebec-made pin. As far as I know, Canada's 1980's merchandise included posters, videos, a puzzle, and a sparing-few of these...

The following is from the rim of the button:
(C)1982 Tezuka Productions, 1984 Via le Monde - Cinevision
Lucien Levesque Inc. Mtl-Nord, Que

I'm going to wear this to the movie premiere...
