I would die for a cel from Astro Boy; it doesn't even matter from which series! I got into cels after I bought some from the 1999 Hunter x Hunter series at a convention. They were much cheaper in comparison ($30-40 each). Maybe one day I'll have the money to buy one of Astro.

Oh and that art book is neat! I'm a little tempted to buy it.

Just found a really nice cel from the 1980s series being sold on Ebay. If you just so happen to have US $200 to spare, then go ahead and get it.

That book shows Astro with Blue Eyes! I guess some of the third party 'official vendors' do that from time to time, and he DOES look cute that way. Jetter Mars DID have blue eyes, but in the anime and Manga Astro's was always brown or just black.

He was not. In fact, the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo was the last Summer Olympic games that did not have a mascot (the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan was the last overall Olympic games that did not have a mascot). The 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble introduced the first Olympic mascot.

I do wonder if we'll see any merch for Astro Boy from the Olympics. Can't imagine why they'd do that now, though...

I see those all over the place. Or at least, I've seen them on Tumblr before; I also saw a lot of them, both images and listings, online when I was looking around for that Funko Pop! toy. Some of them are kind of nice.
