If you refer to the 60s version, I know of a character named Jetto, that is a forerunner of Astroboy. He was not as intelligent, and in one particular episode, he got into trouble because of it.

lists this as episode #84 "Brother Jetto"

mentions him also.

Jet Mars maybe?
It's another series by Tezuka, tho it's hard to find much info on it.
There's an unofficial webpage for it now.

Jetter Mars is a remake of Astroboy in '70s. Osamu Tezuka was not able to use characters of Astroboy because of some problem of the copyright at that time.
Well, that's not quite right, I think...at least not according to what I read some time ago.
Jett Mars (Jetta Marsu) was created by Tezuka at the request of the Toei Co. Specifically, he was asked to "create a character as close to Mighty Atom" as he was comfortable doing. Other then the character design, I'm not sure how much imput Tezuka had with the series. I've heard it was minimal...pretty much the design of the character and maybe that was it.
I saw an episode of this back in the '70s when they used to air a block of Japanese programming on the UHF stations on Sat. nights. It was ok...interesting, yes...but it was no "Astro Boy".

Tezuka Osamu World: Jetter Mars gives very little information about this series, but two of the characters do resemble Atom and Uran.
