Sounds like you had fun. We had quite a few people at our showing (not a packed house, but still pretty decent) and there were quite a few kids. (some of them just wouldn't shut the Hell UP >>) XD

Well I saw the movie and frankly if you walk in believing that its gonna be screwed up...you'll still be amazed. It does follow a few structures that made Astro unique. I was fairly amazed at the lighting, the plot, even my daughter sat through the whole movie without asking to go to the bathroom and she's 3. There were a few things that I didn't like but those were infinitesimal next to the way Mr. Elefun interacted with Astro. I just love the fatherly bond he created with the little robot. I will be buying this movie once it comes out. *Huggles Astro.* I've loved this little robot since I was young, my mother and grandmother before me, I'm glad that I'm bringing my daughter up in a society that still honors him today.

Oh, it really is nice that you can share Astro with your daughter! :D We'll welcome her on the forum in 10 years! :p

I forgot to say that I really liked the scene when Astro learns he can fly. It felt a bit like we were flying with him, so that was a nice piece of artwork! :astro:

I just saw it last night. I had a lot of reactions, some rather negative. Like just about everyone here, it seems, I didn't care much for the first act. It got better as it went, though. It's like this year's "Star Trek" film, a mild reimagination of a beloved icon for a modern audience. Whether not changes were needed is another question. I won't get into spoilers here. And no, I don't think Tezuka would be entirely pleased.

It's nice to see Astro getting the attention, though.

Is it worth going to see it at the theater?

I thought so, because of what I said in my post above:

But in the end, I guess it's very personal.
