Somehow in the anime I saw something or heard something that included his heartbeat. In the movie I saw a heart moniter thing or EKG when Tenma was re-activating Astro.

I think the ekg was for effect but in the 2003 ep space academy or something like that there was a part that cycled and went faster when that cute girl was around.

Well maybe the blue core actually had a pulse?

it could be, if the energy that came out of it was an alternating current or some kinda electromagnetic radiation, there would be a cycle to it, but it wouldn't look much like a heard beat.

Sometimes Astro is out of breath - in the 1980 series at least, so it does look like he has a pulse of some kind!
