Jeffbert - this is a RIOT, and I swear they had some newbie artists on the job or they were plastered or something because a few of those screen caps were so off model they were downright hilarious (if Fauna were still here she'd DEFINITELY have something to say!)

Unrelated idea that just popped into my head. I was getting a little grossed out reading Dan's Astro stories on fanfiction since he describes the robots drinking oil, Astro complained of some cheap stuff Reno got at Jiffy Lube. It reminded me of a sequence from Get Smart with Max and Hymie...
Max: "Hymie do you smoke?"
Hymie: "Only when I drink cheap oil"

Jeffbert had raised a question about Lamp and we both wondered about the lack of glasses. I think the scene where Lamp was knocked out had been edited into the film at the wrong place. Clearly he substituted the robot maid BEFORE he was attacked (by who? Who was hiding in the bushes? Atom?)
Also while Tezuka drew Lamp with glasses in many of the stories, he was sometimes drawn without them. I'm fairly certain he appeared in "White Planet/Silver Comet" without them.

BTW if Duke Red intercepted the bird with the message, how did it get to the Institute of Science?

bare arms reaching out mean . I really am perplexed about Lamp's inconsistent appearances. I assume the animators were using those director's sketches as a guide; clearly somebody goofed.

Especially if they had only three fingers on them (in the '63 series anyway). Astro is almost always drawn with only three fingers and a thumb on each hand. Most of the other characters usually always have four (even Cobalt). His fists are also always drawn very large, the in flight shots have his fisted hands nearly as large as his head! In the shots where Uran is hanging on to his shoulder in flight her hand is so tiny (even more so than needed t make it look girlish dainty) compared to his.
