Seahorse daddies don't count because seahorses are too boss to follow the rules of nature.

:astro: I'm craving pickles and ice cream!

More like
:astro: SOMEBODY BETTER DRIVE TO THE STORE AND GET ME SOME PICKLES AND ICECREAM OR I'M GONNA BLAST A HOLE THROUGH THIS CEILING.

Also, I hate yaoi. I looked it up on the Internet one day to see what it was. Never. Again.

Not all of it is that disgusting, pornographic fan-schlep, or so I've heard. Unfortunately, most same sex pairings within a fandom (which I'm not entirely comfortable with, myself; but that's just a personal issue I need to deal with) seem to be just that. There's plenty that isn't, but I've never really had an interest in them; most are non-canon, anyways.

Dan Rush did a story with a male character that had a crush on Astro. Astro handled it rather well, and the story was not uncomfortable at all. Then again Dan does mange to describe things that most of use find uncomfortable in ways that don't offend.

All this pregnant Astro talk actually reminds me of some little doodles I drew a long time ago of a "Mama Astro." He was the result of some ancient roleplays where I accidentally made Astro really strict and "act like somebody's mom" as I so delicately put back then. He was never pregnant or anything, but I thought it would be kind of amusing to mention. I may have to share them on here someday. XD

I think a couple people from here may or may not have seen them on deviantART, but it was definitely stuff I could get away with easier in this fandom than I could in any other. XD

Edit: Hnngh, I take too long to type things. By the time I get to post what I'm trying to say, the topic shifts. Sorry guys. ^^;

Most yaoi is not disgusting, usually it's badly drawn manga with identical story-plots. And this is coming from a 'yaoi' fan. If you look up anything on the internet you'll probably find something disgusting, such as typing "sailor moon" in an image search engine without the mature filter on. Just try and do that without finding horrible porn.

Although I say I like yaoi, I really don't much. Instead I like male/male romantic relationships, the yaoi that is marketed from Japan is detrimental and fuels a stereotype of gay relationships, creating a false image of what it actually is. I know not many agree with me until I give my full evidence, and I'm not going to on this forum (though you're free to PM me and ask if you're curious).

As for a pregnant Atom. Well I would have never thought about it, it's not like it's an impossibility. Atom is a robot, he's not organic and thus not limited by biological rules. Anyone see Casshern Sins? They had a concept of reproductive robots, and I doubt that gender would be an issue for any robot.

@Penguin: Yeah, I couldn't finish that one. It was really, REALLY uncomfortable in places (well, maybe not so much in most of them)- so much so, in fact, that I couldn't even finish the first chapter when I got to the bath scene. Oh my word, I'm sure my face was red...

Of course, even more innocent stories with such pairings make me uncomfortable. I'm not trying to be offensive, but I can't really help it. Some pairings (ever hear of "Haddotin"?) can even ruin a fic for me, due to my discomfort. (And sometimes, I mean, come on, Pitch Pearl? Haddotin? Pompous Pep? Some of these push some serious boundaries, and unless it's an AU, the first one makes no sense- and even then, it's usually a scary thought. Most of these just strike me as crap, anyway.)

Of course, while I tolerate hetero-pairings much better, anything with too much- um- sexy-time references, even if it's just a little "Frenching", can make me feel uncomfortable. ^-^; Heh, if it's anything beyond the confines of my own mind, suddenly I'm a prude. Never mind the... implications of that statement. Let's go on, shall we?

@Sporkia: Funny, you don't show up in the "Who's Online" list... Anywho, "Momma Astro" in the way you described him sounds like he just does a lot of pedantic finger-wagging, and maybe wears a frilly, dowdy sort of apron.

@LBF From what I remember of that story, the bit with the 'boy love' was a minor part of the plot so I was able to ignore it. I don't look for such stories, nor am I interested in them, but Dan did explore the idea in good taste (IMHO).

He does a good job with hetero relationships, keeping the scenes within the "T" rating, though he does drop some very subtle hints. I know you probably don't like the Astro-Cora relationship (I did that too in my story, but it ISN'T the same Cora, but rather a younger female with the same name.) Anyway his story "Eve more than one"
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8769792/1/Eve-more-than-one is rather cute though he does drop a very big hint at the end that more happened than meets the eye.

@Little Brown Fox: Yeah, I'm invisible so people don't know when I'm lurking. :P And you are exactly right on the mark with Mama Astro oh my gosh. XD My friend and I once wrote a weird little story where he, Cobalt, and a few other assorted characters go camping. I don't remember details, but the quote "Cobalt, if we get eaten by bears, you are SO grounded!" comes to mind. XD

As for yaoi, I used to have an intense dislike of it, but I got older, discovered the weird part of the internet, and started roleplaying, I stopped caring quite as much. I mean, there are a few places where I don't want to see yaoi, and I don't really write it myself (though I have admittedly done Yuri with my own OCs), but I've become a lot more desensitized.

@April: AU stands for alternate universe.

@Penguin: Eh, I still think you're not meant to write romance. But don't let me stop ya. And I think it's more bothersome that it's a different, ugly Cora (pigtails? really?), rather than something I'm used to, and can even enjoy to a limited extent (when it's done well).

@Sporkia: Huh, I didn't know you could do that. And I was just about to answer that question!

Oh my word, I /swear/ I've read that somewhere before; I think someone quoted it! XD I want to read that story now. And I'm probably gonna draw a picture of Mama Astro. X3
