Hmm I'm not sure how many of his books have been reprinted, I just did a quick search and found a collections of 15 titles from the series, but other than that I haven't found much.
EDIT: Okay it looks like most have been reprinted, but they are about $20 each. They were reprinted it looks like in the late 1990s. I had to search for each title individually or type in L. Frank Baum to find more.
Most of the books I have read have come straight from my partner's grandmother's personal library. A lot of these books were a hundred years old and very fragile.
If your library DOES have these books (they should have the first book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) you should enjoy them. They are whimsical and innocent and fun. Timeless and filled with wonder.

Re: Recasting Tezuka Characters
"The doorman is the door keeper to the Emerald City gates, he was played by Frank Morgan and he also played the traveling psychic and the official summons to the wizard."
Actually, Frank Morgan also played the Wizard. But I can't see anyone but Tezuka as the Wizard in my head canon, so the role of the door keeper is split unlike the movie.
I wish I could draw Manga. That is the ONLY way to do this, writing a script alone won't cut it.

It's okay if you don't know how to draw. Do you know someone who does, though?
