A second version of the original manga story that was eventually titled AMBASSADOR ATOM. There were several other stories that also have 2 versions on this animated series.

There apparently is a theory that people identical to ourselves exist on distant planets, or some such thing. The same or very similar situations apply, etc. Multiverse.

So, here we have 天馬博士/ Doctor Tenma, his son, 天馬飛雄 / トビ雄 / トビオ (three ways to spell his name!?) / Tobio , eagerly anticipating living on the newly discovered planet. Tobio obviously had not suffered the same fate as Earth's Tobio.

Also, the space versions have large ears, in case you had not noticed.

天馬 Tenma literally means Heavenly Horse.

Here is the Space お茶の 水博士 / Doctor Ochanomizu; notice he is the only character in this story whose space & Earth versions are indistinguishable from one another.

His name literally means Tea Water

At Earth's observatory, Doctor Ochanomizu, アトム /atomu /Atom-& ヒゲオヤジ Higeoyaji-(literally bearded father) meet with 天文学者 Tenbungakusha (Astronomer). I thought this was a name, but, alas, only his profession.

ヒゲオヤジ using kanji: 髭 (hige/ beard) 親父 (oyaji / father)

四= 4/ 部= section (of an organization) / 垣 = fence

Imoda / Commissioner of the Food Agency as identified in the manga.
