You mean you guys had not seen those links?![]()
No, I had seen the links, but had forgotten about the Roy link, & had already written a hypothethical defense of that statement taken by itself, that is without regard to any other evidence. Then, I looked at the second link, which I had already seen & commented upon. Seeing it in conjunction with the Roy link, I needed a way to salvage my my already written defense of the Roy link.
If my understanding of story boards is correct, the few scenes that are clearly ripped off, could have been ripped off by the executives, without the knowledge of the animators or screenwriters. They only knew what the executives told them. Any assumption that anyone other than Roy Disney And perhaps other executives knew of the ripoff would be sheer speculation. On the other hand, one would wonder if they discarded the story boards & ideas passed from the execs to the artists. If not, they would either damn or exonerate the artists, but the execs are a different matter entirely. If the story boards & other concepts passed from the execs to the artists made any references to Kimba or Jungle Emperor, it still does not mean that the artists were familiar with Tezuka's work. If not, one would see why they had plausible denyability: Because they knew nothing of Tezuka's work, any references to it were meaningless, & hence, quickly forgotten.
Regardless, someone at Disney ripped off Tezuka, & Disney is therefore liable to lawsuit & perhaps even criminal prosecution. But, in the latter case, they must identify individuals; corporations are tough to throw in jail.
