I think Shirley Temple often showed her panties or pantaloons as they were called back then, as her dresses were very short up until age 6 or 7. In the Baby Burlesks she and the other kids wore little more than oversized diapers and were cast in adult roles.

I think in little girls, this was indicative of innocence, as they were immodest, they were not the least bit bothered by any southren exposure. Also, they were rapidly outgrowing their clothes; hence their chubs were exposed. The Coppertone girl clearly shows no concern for her exposure, & this in nothing unusual in young childern.

Shirley invented Lolicon......
You must remember that Miss Temple was playing the female lead in a kiddy version of "Paths of Glory." The part is that of a French harlot in the rear of the USMC lines. A bar girl. Here she can be seen playing the seductress in diapers...
This is Cinema. If you don't include these elements you will be ruined.

Shirley invented upskirts. Her fame was based on Loli.

This page* has some history about the subject within the context of manga and anime.

Don't ask me about the site - it's... debatable. Sorry.
I found it when I searched "panchira history" at a earlier date.

Due the change in the Japanese context since the 1980s, as well as the U.S. corporate involvement in the 2003 Astro Boy series, I think that's why Uran has a different sort of outfit on, to completely avoid such things.

I am now pouring through the page itself & its many links. So far, I see nothing objectionable except in light of the current trends."http://spankingartwiki.animeotk.com/wiki/Panty_shot"
Edit: I now see some rather inappropriate material in indirect links to other pages, despite the fact that the discussions are straight-forward, & not using profanity, I must now take action.

As far as I am concerned, she began losing her appeal at about age 8, when they apparently began dressing her differently. Despite the above image, once a child reaches age 7 or 8, some parents no longer think tush or panty shots are cute, becuase they are now concerned with developing proper behaviors that will lead to adulthood. Thus, while up to that age, exposure is cute, after that age, it is though to be acting like a baby, etc. Despite the fact that children do not normally develop modesty until puberty, and even then it is a cultural thing, many Western cultures apparently think that only babies are cute when naked, while older children are expected to know better than to run around naked.

My own oldest niece was allowed to run around naked when a toddler; I guess it was because she had no bathing suit that her mother removed her diaper when she was playing with an outdoor faucet and was wet because of it. But later, around 6-7, she was clothed in a 1 piece to frolic in the kiddy pool. As soon as her mom turned her back, that 1 piece was lying on the grass, and the girl was happily running around naked until her mom caught her. Despite her best efforts, she could not make the child understand the 'need' for the bathing suit. :p

Is the child's body the cute thing, or is the child's innocence that which is cute? Likewise, young children have no idea of the burdens they will face as adults. Work, taxes, bills, bosses, etc., plague their elders, but the kids are carefree. What does a child worry about? the impending doom of a plate of string beans or a trip to the family doctor and the booster shot. By adult standards, these are trivialities, at worst; but to the child, the shot is the end. :D

This could be found insanely illegal in Australia. You could be branded with a scarlet letter for life! Branded a sex criminal! That's why the Guild is closing Australia out of the NEW Astro Boy and all new anime stuff.
ridiculous and paranoid antiquated prudish anti sex rulings by the Australian Supreme court. Locking up people for cartoons.
Equating cartoons with kiddy porn. PC gone nutttzzz.
So Australia is blocked from Adult Swim Astroboy?
As a token of things to come. This is TV Tokyo.
No one will risk importing Anime into Australia for fear of being arrested for Sexcrime. Wait! It's just starting! You could be arrested for possession of Dragonball!!!!
This poster could be grounds for arrest!
Get ready.

As far as I know, Adult Swim Astroboy is blocked in any country but USA ;) Copyright issue you see... not thought control, only money business, please move along :p
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Oh really? Watch as more countries join the Sexcrime bandwagon and any excuse will do. But the reason is as I stated. Thought Control for the populace. And business. One could be arrested for manufacturing Porn in these repressive thoiught control countries. Doctors have been arrested.Lawyers. even the Police in charge of Sexcrime investigations have been arrestedin countries without freedom of speech. Restriction of access to the internet is now the fasted growing form of thought control, and control of "Kiddy porn" is the excuse. Why would you dispute this fact.
An indepth Astro scan of blocked access to internet could be provided. :ninja: :astro:
