This Friday June 26th at 7:30pm, the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center will be having a free outdoor screening of Astroboy, Gigantor and Voltron.
They'll also be giving away door prizes all night long and will have live DJs mixing up live soundtracks to the Voltron episodes.
The JACCC is located at 244 S. San Pedro St., in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles. More info on the forums.

Imagi Studios and Summit Entertainment will be at Anime Expo® 2008 (Booth #913 and #915) introducing its upcoming CG-animated motion picture ASTRO BOY. A special edition ASTRO BOY t-shirt will also be distributed to anime fans on a limited basis at the show, which will be held July 3-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. A 10 by 7 foot mural, consisting of 138,000 recycled Tokyo Metro tickets, is currently on display to mark Tokyo's newly opened Fukutoshin subway line. The work, created entirely by volunteers, shows characters from the series along with the new Fukutoshin train and is on temporary display at Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store.

It's official, an Astroboy movie is in production! After years of rumors and speculation, Astro will finally be coming to us on the big screen. The movie, announced earlier this month, is being produced by Imagi studios, the same studio who brought us TMNT earlier in the year. The movie, like TMNT, is expected to be a full CGI animation, though we will have to wait until 2009 for its release.

Madman Entertainment have announced that they will be releasing the original 1980s colour seires of Astroboy on DVD this summer!
The Deluxe Tin Box Set will feature 51 episodes spanning over 10 discs, plus and extras DVD containing original artwork, character profiles, biographies and more!
But that's not all. Madman want to hear from you some ideas on what you would like to see as extras in this awesome DVD pack. We've set up a special topic on our forums specifically for this purpose, so head on over and get posting!

Astroboy is to be one of five robots who will be inducted into Carnegie Mellon University's Robot Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held on October 11, 2004, at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.
Along with Astroboy, C3PO and Robby the Robot will be honored for their fictional characters and their real world inspiration. The robots were selected by a jury that includes leaders in technology-related fields.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has struck a deal with animator Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory) to write and direct its long-in-development film version of the classic Japanese animated series Astroboy.

Tokyo's Takadanobaba district began using Astro Boy currency eariler this month. The new currency features images of Astroboy, in dominations of 10, 100 and 200 "horsepower", with one horsepower being the equivalent of one Japanese Yen.

To celebrate Astroboy's birthday, which falls on the 7th of April, AstroBoy.jp have released a preview of the new Astroboy TV series which is set to hit our television screens in the next few months.
The movie comes dubbed in either Japanese or English and a variety of mirrors have been posted to help ensure everyone has a chance to see the preview.
