Thanks for posting them. I also really like the angel pic. of Tobio and Astro. It's cute, and they are angels aren't they? It would be great if Tobio would be Astro's guardian angel and help him out. Someone should write some manga or anime with this plot.

Yeah, I know. Since the Superbowl insident, my government has taken censorship too far. So evan innocent Astro is thought of as sex. <_< LAME! Also, America and much a the west is ashamed of the human body as though it was a sin, but not the Japanese.
Skin is natural to them. That's why they have public unisex bath houses, deal with it.
They evan have what they call a Naked Festival. No, they don't really get naked, but close, in there underwear. They end up looking like Astro. Again deal with it, west.

Ok, I had to post that pic. because there's a new live action movie coming out, so If we imagine the worst, maybe it won't be so bad. Actually this is only half bad. If you crop off the head, the body looks like the cartoon Astro we know and love.
It's the head that's the problem. It's not big and round enough, looks more like Astro's brother Cobolt. Then there's his hair, looks more like a scull cap with horns.

Solution, find a kid with a round head with a more chubby face and bigger eyes like this kid:

This is Gam from Tezuka's live action Ambassador Magma/Space Giants.

It was a great show, my first exposure to Tezuka back in '79, but the show was from the 60's, same as the manga.
This show proved to me that Tezuka could do live action best, because the stories were great, which made up for any low budget camp. So the live action Astros from the 50's and 60's were probably good.

Another solution is to use his real hair and style it like Astro's by using lots of gel and spiking the sides. Hey Alfalfa on the Little Rascals had a center hair spike that looks similar to the one Astro had in the micro-bot episode.

Today they would probably use animatronics or computer generation for the head, so it would look exactly like the cartoon Astro. Or maybe they'll just do all of him cgi.
